URBAN DESIGN - URBAN CENTERS
Our work in Urban Centers ranges in scale from strategic planning for downtowns and districts to the design of individual parks, plazas, monuments and buildings. Whether we are working for a large city or a small town, we utilize a comprehensive spectrum of planning and design disciplines. Our planning solutions are based on solid economic footing and are increasingly focused on sustainable means of implementation. Our clients include planning departments, urban redevelopment corporations and foundations, but we also serve private clients pursuing development projects, often in highly contested urban contexts.
Planning for all of our Urban Centers is grounded in principles intrinsic to venerated cities around the world: a mix of uses, walkable environments, progressive transit options and quality public spaces that are connected and memorable. These principles guide our planning and design, but we base our approach on a thorough understanding of the distinctive characteristics found in the cities and towns where we work. Combining our extensive experience with a constant study of best practices, we bring fresh insights to seemingly intractable issues or conflicts.
Public engagement is integral to our working process. We endeavor to learn as much as possible from residents, officials, business owners and stakeholders at the outset of a project and continue to gather feedback throughout the process. We seek the highest possible outcomes, believing that a plan should be more than the sum of its individual components and not just satisfy each constituency on their own limited expectations. Our vision planning process has garnered Chan Krieger Sieniewicz three national Honor Awards in Urban Design in the last decade and much local, regional and international recognition.
